Inside this cottage you know you are truly in Maine. The scent of pine and ocean surf mixed with the colors of the sea invite you to relax and unwind... All furnishings surround you in comfort. Both the kitchen and bathroom have been newly renovated while keeping the original cottage charm in place.

The area is a step back in time into old fashioned Maine. Minutes away are a fort from the 1600’s, the famous Pemaquid lighthouse that is on the back of the Maine quarter(coin), and a picture postcard working harbor. Eat on the deck while fresh seafood is hauled in from the boats below. Freeport and Camden for shopping, Bath and Rockland for museums, Monhegan Island, antiquing, and auctions all within an hour away.

Bird Migration:
Take the local Hardy Boat to see the Puffin birds at East Egg Rock. Audubon Guides narrate, update their ongoing efforts to save threatened migrating birds."The island is home to the world's first restored seabird colony. The methods initiated here in 1973 have been replicated dozens of times worldwide to help endangered and threatened seabirds. Today 122 species (including breeding birds) have been recorded on the island since 2000". See the Audubon Puffin Project site for more information.

Additional Activities: This area has many unusual places to explore and enjoy. There is the world class Owls Head Transportation Museum which is home to everything transportation related-from horse drawn sleighs and carriages to steam powered ships, WW 1 era planes, the first 'Woodie wagon' and the original 1963 Ford Mustang II, The Round Top Center for the Arts with concerts, classes, lectures, art shows and an arts and crafts gallery featuring local artists.
The Todd Audubon Sanctuary which includes 330- acre Hog Island, home to the oldest continuously operating adult environmental education camp in the U.S. The sanctuary is home to island and mainland walking trails with a seasonal visitor's center and nature store.
And of course there is just the option of watching the waves from your beach chair on the fine white sand beach......
